Megan Thee Stallion geared up for the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards by channeling her inner Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Making her grand entrance in Japan, Stallion showcased her stylish rendition of the fan-favorite Jujutsu Sorcerer on Instagram. Donning a leather version of Gojo's signature dark blue zip-up jacket with a midriff-baring design, Stallion completed the look with white hair, covering her eyes just like the enigmatic Jujutsu instructor himself.
Although Stallion served as one of the presenters for the awards, anime enthusiasts are likely to embrace her unabashed love for Jujutsu Kaisen. The anime community had the final say in over 30 categories, including Anime of the Year, Best Continuing Series, and Best Animation, where Jujutsu Kaisen was a strong contender. The awards ceremony, streamed globally from Tokyo on YouTube and Twitch, featured nominees like Chainsaw Man, Oshi no Ko, Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, and Suzume.
Megan Thee Stallion's passion for anime is well-documented. Last Halloween, she paid homage to Death the Kid from Soul Eater, and she has previously cosplayed as Rumi "Mirko" Usagiyama from My Hero Academia. Her resemblance to Mirko was so striking that an assistant artist on the Shonen Jump series used her as a reference model for his Mirko fan art.
Crunchyroll, the leading platform for streaming anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, also announced the simulcast release of Kaiju No. 8 during the upcoming Spring 2024 anime season.
