Six years after the debut of the Batman Ninja anime film by Kamikaze Douga, a sequel has been announced: Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League. This new installment will see the return of the original staff and voice cast, including Koichi Yamadera (known for voicing Spike in Cowboy Bebop) as Batman.

The sequel will be directed by Junpei Mizusaki, with Shinji Takagi as co-director. The screenplay is written by Kazuki Nakashima, character designs are by Takashi Okazaki, and Yugo Kanno will compose the music. The production is being handled by Kamikaze Douga.

More information will be revealed at the Warner Bros. Japan presents Suicide Squad ISEKAI and Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League event at Anime Expo 2024 this July.

Here’s how the original Batman Ninja was summed up:

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies – including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family – to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.
