The return of the popular comedy ecchi anime High School DxD has received a significant boost with a recent announcement by the staff revealing that the series has surpassed 7.8 million copies in circulation.

The series' official X (formerly Twitter) teased a major announcement for High School DxD on May 1, 2024. While many fans had hoped for an official announcement of High School DxD Season 5, the reveal turned out to be the milestone achievement of 7.8 million copies in circulation. The staff expressed their appreciation for the series' diverse appeal, stating, "School, battle, romantic comedy, and boobs...! This work, which has many fun features, has become available in many languages." They also assured fans that High School DxD would continue in various forms, not just in novels, and encouraged everyone to continue supporting the series. Additionally, an illustration by the original light novel artist, Miyama-Zero, accompanied the announcement.

This update has sparked excitement among fans, indicating ongoing enthusiasm and support for the High School DxD franchise across different media formats.
Ichiei Ishibumi, the original author of High School DxD, also addressed fans who have eagerly awaited the return of the series, as well as his other work, Fallen Dog God -SLASHDOG-. He expressed regret over the delay in releasing new volumes of Shin High School DxD and Fallen Angel Slashdog, attributing it to his ongoing medical treatment and recuperation. Despite the setback, he extended his gratitude to fans and asked for their patience, expressing hope that they could wait a little longer for the continuation of both series.
The eagerly awaited Junior High School DxD (JDxD) by Rippu Shinonome has finally received a release date of May 17, 2024. Initially announced during publisher Fantasia Bunko's live stream in 2023, it has now been confirmed to be the first installment in a multi-work series. The official anime account expressed excitement, describing the novel as embodying the essence and enjoyment of DxD. They touted it as a high-quality manuscript. Ishibumi will supervise the series, ensuring its alignment with the original work, while the original illustrator, Miyama-Zero, will provide the artwork,
further enhancing the anticipation surrounding the release.
Crunchyroll offers all four seasons of High School DxD, portraying it as follows: "A conflict between heaven and hell unfolds on Earth—and Issei finds himself caught up in a whirlwind of hormonal turmoil. Here enters Rias, a voluptuous redhead and president of The Occult Research Club, which, ironically, doesn't delve into the occult but rather embodies it. They are the occult—and Rias is a Devil!"
