The following contains spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 9, "Nine Tails," by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto, and Snir Aharon, now available through Viz Media .

It seems like Boruto's character development in "Boruto: Two Blue Vortex" is taking an exciting turn with him mastering new abilities like Sage Mode and working with summoning toads. The dynamic of him collaborating with Kashin Koji, the Jiraiya clone, adds an intriguing twist to his training journey, reminiscent of Naruto's own training under the original Jiraiya.

Chapter 9's revelation of Boruto's increased power and his victory over a formidable opponent signals significant progress in his growth as a ninja. However, the mention of a massive issue with potential dire repercussions suggests that there may be consequences to Boruto's newfound strength.

The fact that Boruto is shown defeating Kawaki, a long-time enemy, without breaking a sweat indicates a significant power boost for him. This victory could have significant implications for the story's direction and the dynamic between Boruto and Kawaki moving forward.

Overall, it sounds like "Boruto: Two Blue Vortex" is delving deeper into Boruto's character development and the challenges he faces as he continues to grow as a ninja. Fans can look forward to seeing how Boruto's journey unfolds and the impact of his newfound abilities on the broader narrative.

  • Boruto doesn't want to kill Kawaki; he just wants him to reverse Konoha's brainwashing.
  • Sadly, Kawaki is paranoid that Momoshiki will possess Boruto again.
  • This remixes the Naruto vs. Sasuke arc from the Naruto era, as Boruto believes Kawaki can be redeemed.

Chapter 9 of "Boruto: Two Blue Vortex" presents a significant confrontation between Boruto and Kawaki amidst the chaos caused by the Sentient God Trees attacking Konoha. The focus shifts to the personal conflict between the two characters as they engage in a rooftop battle.

Boruto's demeanor during the fight reflects a sense of calm and confidence, contrasting with Kawaki's emotional state of anger and frustration. Boruto's skillful evasion of Kawaki's attacks demonstrates his mastery of ninja techniques, reminiscent of the fluidity and precision of Neo from "The Matrix." His ability to effortlessly counter Kawaki's moves highlights his growth and dedication to training under Kashin Koji's guidance.

The physical confrontation culminates in Boruto delivering a decisive blow to Kawaki, leaving him stunned and vulnerable. The significance of this encounter is emphasized by Delta's reaction, indicating that Boruto's strength and prowess have surpassed expectations, even among his adversaries.

However, amidst the action, a deeper issue emerges as Boruto's Karma mark begins malfunctioning in a horrific manner. This development adds a layer of complexity to the storyline, raising questions about the nature of Boruto's powers and their potential consequences.

Overall, Chapter 9 of "Boruto: Two Blue Vortex" delivers intense action and character development, setting the stage for further exploration of Boruto's journey and the challenges he faces as he navigates his destiny.

  • The Karma mark allowed Ōtsutsuki warriors to download their genetic code into humans.
  • Once humans were deemed strong and worthy, the DNA rewrite would occur.
  • This was why the centuries-old Isshiki used Kara's scientist, Amado, as he wanted him to make Kawaki the perfect vessel.

The activation of Kawaki's Karma mark triggers a resonant response from Boruto's own mark, indicating a potential connection between the two marks and their origins as vessels for Ōtsutsuki warriors. This development raises concerns about the possibility of Momoshiki's spirit returning and exerting influence over Boruto, as he previously did when possessing him.

The uncertainty surrounding Boruto's Karma mark and its implications underscores the urgency of the situation, especially considering the absence of support from Amado and Konoha's science team. Without guidance or assistance, Boruto faces the challenge of navigating the dangerous consequences of his mark's activation alone.

As the Hidden Leaf Village contends with multiple threats, including the Sentient God Trees and adversaries like Code and Kawaki, Boruto's ability to harness the power of his Karma mark becomes crucial for protecting his loved ones and defending against looming dangers.

The unfolding events in "Boruto: Two Blue Vortex" present an opportunity to delve deeper into the Ōtsutsuki mythos and explore the mysteries surrounding Boruto's Karma mark. By investigating the origins and nature of these marks, the series can expand its narrative scope and delve into the complexities of Boruto's destiny as he grapples with the legacy of the Ōtsutsuki clan.

  • Boruto's Jōgan appeared in the first chapter of the manga in 2016.
  • Boruto's Jōgan appeared in the first episode of the anime in 2017.

If Boruto's Karma does transform him into a rampaging Hulk or a Momoshiki copy who has always wanted to destroy Konoha, that could explain the scene the franchise started on. An older Kawaki and Boruto were found fighting each other. Kawaki warned the "age of shinobi" was over, while using his Karma. Boruto disputed this, activating his own mark, as well as his Jōgan eye. It may well be that prior to this brawl, Boruto could have decimated the place, whether fighting Kawaki, or if he lost control of his body.

The interesting thing is, with Boruto's mark being so risky, the franchise could now properly dedicate time to dissecting his Jōgan -- i.e. the eye Kawaki took from Boruto. This unique ocular jutsu initially popped up at the start of the Boruto series, allowing him to spot chakra patterns in people. It is a dōjutsu that is known only by the Ōtsutsuki Clan. Their members claim it's troublesome. It can see through invisible barriers that connect between dimensions and allow users to predict where other rifts will be.

This "pure eye" — which acts as a replacement eye — may be the key to calming the Karma down, allowing Boruto to harness it the right way. Without a shadow of a doubt, he does need something to ensure his mark doesn't lead to bloodshed. Boruto wouldn't have run from a fight if it wasn't bad. If this Karma is a ticking time bomb, the franchise could even have Boruto exploring Konoha's outskirts and other dimensions to find Ōtsutsuki temples, tablets, scrolls, prophecies and anything that can help.

There is just so much left unknown about the Ōtsutsuki race and their science, which was seen with Toneri on the moon. Such an approach would freshen up the narrative, give fans more of the Ōtsutsuki background, and explain other hidden secrets about these Karma marks. It would feel organic as well, because like Kurama in Naruto, Boruto knows with great power comes great responsibility. He cannot afford to go off the rails and endanger his loved ones. It could harm Konoha and other villages, too.

Ultimately, Boruto's Karma possibly leading to mass casualties and collateral damage would continue to show that Boruto's flaws and vulnerabilities are just as much mental as they are physical. It's evident in how easily he drugs Kawaki, yet how scared he is over his Karma. This is going to be an intriguing mystery to keep an eye on for the foreseeable future. Boruto knows he has numbers against him and that he needs to be fit for the wars to come. But with the immense pain this mark offers him, it could be a handicap that gives the villains of the story an upper-hand.
